Inbound Mail
Mail from the United States to POW's held in the Philippines was a very slow process, as the Japanese Government and Military authorities were not the most co-operative.


1943 MAY 15: CALIFORNIA to PHILIPPINES
Datelined SAN FRANCISCO, directed to Cabanatuan, POW Camp No. 1 upon arrival.
Mailed with sufficient time for the letter to go on the third sailing of the "M.S. Gripsholm",
on September 2, 1943. 

Camp No. 1 (Cabanatuan) was liberated on January 30, 1945.


1943 AUGUST 27: PHILADELPHIA to PHILIPPINES
Addressed an Air Force Sargeant interned in the Philippines.
Directed to Camp No. 2, Davao, Mindanao per blue "DAVAO" crayon.
Pencil receving date of April 22,1944 on verso.

Davao Prison Camp closed on June 12,1944
and transferred all POW's to Cabanatuan.
