Censored Gummed Label
With the re-opening of the mail system on March 4,1942, by the Japanese Occupation Forces, the need for censorship existed on all civilian, government and military mail. The internal censorship period ended on June 30, 1943.

Although, censorship had ended on June 30, 1943, government mail to and from the provinces was still to be censored, as will be shown later on.

Censor label applied on a cover dated, March 4, 1942.
These envelopes were opened along the bottom and the label applied as well as the
"OPEN BY THE CENSORS / PASSED INSPECTION"
hand stamp in purple and the censor's initial in pencil.

Many forgeries of these labels have been made, and genuinely used labels
will also have the purple hand stamp applied.
