Censored Gummed Label
Prisoner of War / Civilian Internee
Mail destined to POW's and Civilian Internees received a different censorship label than those for Civilian usages. These labels had no frames and were printed on the back side of scrapped prewar Bureau of Post business forms.


1943 AUGUST 8: NEW YORK to PHILIPPINES
Carried on the 3rd voyage of the MV GRIPSHOLM,  which began on September 2, 1943. 
Rendezvoused with the TEI MARL) at Mormugao on October 15.
Delivered to the Imperial Authorities at Manila where the letter was censored
and label "OPENED BY THE CENSORS / PASSED INSPECTION" was applied.
