Gummed Label
Baguio had a rather distinctive censorship label, which was printed red on an off white gummed paper
79 x 24 mm.

Philatelic FDC for the "FOOD PRODUCTION SEMI-POSTAL ISSUE" originally posted at Manila, on November 12, 1942 and sent to a collector in Baguio. Censored with the double lined boxed hand stamp in purple.

At Baguio, the collector had re-used the same cover to obtain a first day cancel of the "FIRST ANNIVERSARY OF THE GEAWAR", on Decembers, 1942.

Since the cover was originally unsealed, the censor had no need to open the side and check the contents so he had placed the censor label to cover the side as per regulations.

The translation of the label is as follows, from left to right:
First three characters are in Katakana: Japanese "BAGIO"   -    English "BAGUIO"
The next six characters are in Kanji:  Japanese "KEMPEITAI KEN'ETSN ZURNI"  -
English "CENSORED BY MILITARY POLICE CORPS".

Even though this label is on a philatelic cover,
it is still considered to be one of the great rarities of the Japanese Occupation Period.
