and first use of "Via Brindisi" on front, indecipherable 1871 Singapore
transit on reverse.
34c was
the single rate via Brindisi. The letter departed New York on October 7
on the North German Liner "WESER II".
The letter
expresses dismay at no letters from the Philippines and the failed nomination
of Ben Butler for Governor of Massachusetts.
