U.S. Post Office Department Registry Return Receipt Form 1548, overprinted in black with short and bold "MANILA / PHILIPPINE ISLANDS." on the front and "MANILA, P.I." in tall thin characters on the back. 

Printing Order control number "5-36" on both sides, at bottom left and right sides.

The last line "County of _____ State of ____" on the back removed.
Printing Order control number "5-36" on both sides not found on the 1898 Provisional Form.


A similar card but without the "MANILA / P.I." overprint was used in the provinces.

The use of this card in the provinces was a temporary measure.

1902 MAY 3:
SURIGAO, MINDANAO to WARREN, PA.
Received June 18, with SAN FRANCISCO / JUN 15 transit postmark. Sent back to Manila on July 10, 1902 and received Surigao on August 5, 1902.
