LYHAM ST. ANNES, ENGLAND to LOS BANOS, LAGUNA
21 APRIL, 1944

Civilian internee Prisoner of War Postal Card taking the following route to the Philippines:

  • Directed to General Post Office, London, where is was checked;
  • Flown to Teheran, 3,000 miles away;
  • Carried by rail to Moscow, 1,600 miles away;
  • Transferred to Trans-Siberian railway to China care of Russian Guards, 5,413 miles way;
  • Then by Trans-Manchurian rail to Fusan, Japanese Korea, some 1,500 miles away;
  • The card now in Japanese hands, sent by ship to Tokyo and then to the Philippines.
