Nichols Field Military Prisoner of War Camp #4
Las Piñas, Rizal
Mr. Stauffer sent me an email with attached images correcting previous published report designating Camp #4 as Camp O'Donnell in Tarlac. Reference to this effect are on pages 3 and 4.

LAS PIÑAS to CONNECTICUT
Garrett Type 3 Prisoner of War Card, censored upon arrival in the U.S.
by Examiner 10971.

PFC Anthony P.  Wieczorek served with the QMC in the PI and was KIA
when the Arisan Maru was sunk on 10/24/44.

Gene and Abe,

Here is some data I have concerning Las Pinas . The pages are from a book I obtained that is basically a history of the camp. It has a roster in the back of the camp and PFC Anthony P. Wieczorek (the above card in the name of Anthony P.  Wieczorek) , 1st Sgt Adrian R. Martin , S/Sgt Arthur Menzies (see page 2) are all on it. There are pictures of some cards the vet sent from camp 4 in the book. The Camp opened in September 1943 (for the purpose of rebuilding the airfield ) and was closed as the men were shipped to Japan in Sept 1944. The type 3 and 3A cards fit the time period this camp was open. I have never seen a type 1 card from this camp.

Hope this answers some questions.

Kurt
