with enough time for the letter to go on the third sailing of the "M.S.
Gripsholm", on September 2, 1943. |

11: SAN FRANCISCO to PHILIPPINES. Directed
upon arrival to POW Camp #1, Cabanatuan. It is believed that the Japanese
censor smudged the cover trying to find out whether there was any secret
code or message hidden in the printing of the can. |
