The 4c brown ( Scott # U.S. 303) comes in many shades, only two shades,
those shown in Fig. 1.22, were overprinted. The stamps with forged
overprints,
in Fig 1.23 show that not much attention was paid to the color of the
stamp
and angle of the overprint by the forgers.
