1917,
2c Yellow Green, Vertical Pair, Imperforate Between (290d).
Tied by well
struck "Manila P.I. Sep. 9, 1930" duplex on cover front only.
When I was
still doing auctions for the IPPS, a lot was submitted by a local dealer
which, even to day, I vividly recall three things: 1) the stamp position;
2) the postmark position, both almost identical to the above; and 3) the
cover was not accepted as it was questionable for the following reasons:
-
The cds was
so perfectly struck that no trace of device wear could be seen which made
us conclude that it was used for the very first time.
-
The football
killer was to perfectly struck, very sharp and straight segmented lines
and curved edges, size much bigger than those employed during the period.
-
The ring around
the numeral on the football killer is thin and its spacing relative to
the outer ring is also narrow.
-
The space between
the outer ring and the football outer curved line is wide as compared to
the ones found on real commercial covers.
-
The circular
steel cds smaller in size, the letters shorter with wider spacing between
the letters.
