1928 Manila to Germany With 3-Colors
Clearly the 20c yellow was added to pay for the manuscript notation "A.D. / Paid" (Additional Due for "A.D."). The initial 36c franking is proper, for 16c Single Outbound Letter Rate plus the 20c Registration Fee at 20 grams maximum weight. I can only surmise that the 20c additional is for double rate without penalty, overpaid by 4c. (eBay US$ 54.60)
Manila to Germany With 20c Palace
Okay, this is a Bruggmann cover and there are many like this. Many failed to realize that 20c Palace on cover, specially a pair, is not easy to come by these days. Add this up to the pair of 6c Definitives equal to 52c proper Double Registered Rate (32c Double Letter Rate + 20c Registration Fee). This is a big fish that got away. Lucky buyer!!!!!! (eBay $29.00)
