1941 Singapore - Canada Via Philippines

1941 (17 Feb) Airmail cover front from Singapore to Canada via China Clipper
frank with Straits Settlement KGVI 4c (2), 6c (2) & 30c (3), tied by Singapore cds,
open & reseal at left, tied with "Passed by Censor 248A", h/s "Received at Manila
by Steamer" on middle, Scarce.

Unsual routing for Singapore mail, certainly due to the "VIA CHINA CLIPPER" endorsement placed by the sender. If I am not mistaken there was only one Clipper service ex Singapore in 1941, made by the Pacific Clipper in late May or early June 1941.  I believe this was also the fastest way by air to Canada. Without the endorsement, this cover would have been directed to Europe by Imperial Air, then carried Trans-Atlantic by air or liner to New York. I have no idea on Singapore to U.S. conversion rate but I presume the sender placed the proper postage on this cover for surface rate to the Philippines per "RECEIVED AT MANILA BY STEAMER Paquebot marking, the 1p clipper rate to the U.S. and the delivery fee to Canada.
