1898 - 1899 RESELLADO GIRO STAMPS

Warren #W-236B to #W-244 Under the listing is the following note: concerning the Giro stamps overprinted RESELLADO 1898-99 Forbin says "We do not know whether these stamps were issued or not, not having seen them used." The stamps were overprinted for use by the Spanish Administration of Zamboanga, which continued to function for several months after the surrender of Manila in August 1898. An article by the writer concerning the RESELLADO overprint, which occurs on both postage and revenue stamps, was published in March 21, 1942 issue of Stamps. The manuscript was mailed to the publisher, Harry L. Lindquist in 1941, prior to the Japanese invasion of the Philippines. --- A. H. Warren

Warren also lists as possibly existing a 20 centavos (W-236C) and 7 pesos (W-244B) values. I have not seen any used example of this issue, on or off document. I do not think, if ever were officially issued, were used at all.

The illustrated set which is in fresh condition came from a Spanish dealer. Is it safe for me to conclude that when the Spaniards left Zamboanga they also brought with them the revenue stamp stocks?
