1854 QUEEN ISABELLA II FIRST ISSUE
10 CUARTOS BLOCK OF 6

Described as: Here is a BLOCK of 6 of Queen ISABELLA 11 from an old ollection
which is mint. In the top row of the BLOCK of 6 the middle STAMP is a VERY FINE COPY.
The picture from the catalogue is from a 2006 SCOTT CATALOGUE.
As you can see just ONE 10c carmine is $475.00. The BLOCK was put in with a thin piece
of cardboard and then put in a sleeve. When it was put away over time it started
to stick to the thin cardboard. I did NOT try to remove it from the thin cardboard.
As you can see from the picture the BLOCK is WHOLE. Just some of the edges
of the rest of the stamps have some problems. ebay $273.63

I received two queries on my impression of this item. First remark: WHAT A PITY.
Large multiples of this issue I deemed as very scarce. As you can see the stamp
faults are quite significant and it is "on thin cardboard" to boot. The most that ca
be obtained from this block, if one is very particular is a good single (position #2)
and a vertical pair (positions 2 and 5) if one does not mind the small cut
into the stamp frame on the bottom side.

Having said the above, I believe this piece should be kept as is.
Even with its faults, it will make a pretty good conversation piece.
