1943 US - PHILIPPINES POW MAIL
MISDIRECTED TO AUSTRIA
1943 NOVEMBER 13:
CRYSTAL RIVER, FLORIDA to POW CAMP #1

Misdirected per encircled "AG" marking, the "A" denoting "ABWEHR" (Military Intelligence)
and the "g" indicating that it was applied in VIENNA, AUSTRIA.

Upon reaching Japan, marked with blue crayon "5-B" on front and red receiving marking
on the verso make reference to Camp 5-B (Niigata) in Japan.

The lack of the pencil reference of "#1" or "Cab" which was usually applied in Manila to indicate that the addressee was interred in CABANATUAN" possibly mean that "PFC STANALAND" was transferred from the Philippines to this camp.
