S567 Japan
WWII Philippines dispatch KAKI6558 corps to Kyoto The date of arrival is
filled in as 19.4.6 (1944). This letter is posted in January from the Philippines.
Part of the
text reads "that intense on a southern island here fighting has started.
TAGAROGU fellows live here. On the road, children are playing. There
are also many people who speak Japanese well. We can also speak about the
language of TAGAROGU. The joint entertainment of Japan and the Philippines
was sponsored by my garrison on January 5. I did the role which passes
a performer a prize. The men of the Philippines liked the song and the
dance....on Sunday that our corps and residents do the game of baseball."
5 Sheets of
enclosure on this lot and I am only illustrating one. Printed lettersheet
used in the Philippines. The drawing does not necessarily mean that it
is of the Philippines. It is a typical South East Asian country scene.
Letter contents very interesting. |
