1942
OCTOBER 22: MACABEBE, PAMPANGA to MANILA
Franked with
5c and 16c (N3-4) for proper 21 Single Registered Rate.
Obviously,
the 2c Rizal green added later (which can easily be removed). The MACABEBE
postmark listed by Garrett as Macabebe-1 with December 22, 1942 as the
earliest reported usage. The month on this "22" date postmark looks like
"OCT" (the first letter clearly and "O" and the last a "T"). If I am correct,
this cover is two months earlier than what Garrett reported.
The red manuscript
"To be censored at Manila" may have been added by the Macabebe postmaster
or even by the San Fernando, Pampanga postmaster (if the cover was routed
via San Fernando and no censor personnel available at that time).
eBay, realized
$250.00
