This item
described in the Zurich Asia auction catalog as dated "CORREOS / TARLAC
/ 26 JUN 98" (which I have corrected above) and "reportedly the
earliest recorded date of use on Luzon Island." Obviously a description
error since the postal and telegraph system of the Revolutionary Government
was to be established by November 10, 1898 per decree issued by Gen.
Emilio Aguinaldo on November 2, 1898. It is believed that the first stamps
was issued late November or early December 1898. |
